Description

Title: NOC Technician

Short description: Responsible for the daily operation of all network elements in the Tower Cloud communications network.

Reports to: Director Implementation and Operations

Department: Network Operations

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Relocation: Not paid

Summary: Tower Cloud seeks to hire a NOC Technician for its 24x7 Network Operations Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Position is responsible for the daily operation of all network elements in the Tower Cloud communications network. Proactively monitor alarms within various network management software applications, including Ciena ON-Center, Network Node Manager, Nagios, Ceraview and CircuitVision. Provide first level troubleshooting efforts for trouble isolations on environmental, SONET, TDM, IP and RF systems.

Responsibilities: Proactively monitor health and status of production network elements. Function as a single point of contact for reporting of network issues. Provide technical direction, isolation of trouble, remote testing and assistance to field technicians as required. Create, log troubleshooting notes and close network trouble tickets. Maintain outage notification logs and ensure adherence to escalation procedures. Support commissioning and acceptance of new network elements.

Required: Training in SONET, Ethernet, IP and RF technology including knowledge of DS-1 and DS-3 to OC-xx carrier-based transmission equipment. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in the area of telecommunications networks, specifically at the circuit level. Ability to multi-task and solve multiple trouble issues simultaneously in a high stress environment. Excellent customer interaction and communication skills.

Desired: AA degree with emphasis in communications or electronics preferred

Education: Associate

Level: Experienced, Non-manager

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of previous NOC experience

FLSA overtime pay provisions: Nonexempt (hourly with overtime)

Working Conditions: Ability to work day, evening or night shifts and holidays as required w/ some overtime. This particular shift is from 10:00 P.M. until 8:00 A.M., Monday thru Thursday, 4 ten-hour days, grave yard shift.
