Ron Mudry has 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, most recently as President and CEO of Progress Telecom prior to its sale to Level 3 Communications. As the founding CEO of Progress Telecom, which was formed in 1998, Ron successfully created an industry-leading provider of fiber and backhaul services. Prior to launching Progress Telecom, Ron gained cross-functional experience in the telecom industry with over 15 years at GTE Corporation (now Verizon). He held key management positions in finance, sales and marketing, international operations, treasury, strategic planning, and mergers and acquisitions. Ron has also served as chairman of the CEO Council of CompTel (the primary industry association for the competitive telecom industry). Ron earned an MBA from the University of Tampa and a Bachelors in Finance from the University of Michigan.
Tom Guard has over 20 years experience in corporate finance, M&A and accounting, and prior to joining Tower Cloud, served as Senior Vice President and Treasurer of Global Signal. Tom was a member of the turn-around executive team that brought Global Signal from bankruptcy to one of the largest publicly traded wireless tower companies in North America operating over 11,000 sites when sold to Crown Castle in January 2007 for $5.7 billion. Tom has significant experience in raising capital, including Global Signal’s IPO that successfully raised $145 million and as one of the financial executives that negotiated and closed over $2.5 billion in debt through three securitizations and various bank credit agreements. Before joining Global Signal, Tom was Vice President of Finance at TMP Worldwide, a publicly traded international human capital management firm and parent company of Monster.com. Tom began his career with Price Waterhouse as an auditor. He is a CPA and earned an MBA from the University of Florida and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Missouri.
Jon Yount has over 17 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Tower Cloud, he was Senior Vice President, Operations for American Fiber Systems, a CLEC with metropolitan area networks in nine markets across the U.S. Prior to American Fiber Systems, Jon was involved in program management for a wireless network design company contracted to deploy backhaul networks, negotiated the first two contracts for wireless backhaul services for one of the Tier 1 wireless carriers, and provided consulting services for parties interested in acquiring telecommunications companies. Prior to this he was Senior Vice President, Service Providers Americas at Cable & Wireless. Jon was also Vice President, North American Local Network Development at Level 3, where he led a start-up team responsible for implementation of 50 metro fiber networks ($1.5bn capital) on-budget and ahead of schedule. Jon holds an MBA from Cornell University and a BA in Business Administration from Seattle Pacific University.
George Townsend has over 30 years experience in the telecommunications and utility industries. Prior to Tower Cloud, George served as VP and GM of Progress Telecom’s wireless division, a group he founded in 1995. Under George’s leadership, the business became a very profitable segment with strong revenue growth and a portfolio of over 400 tower lease attachments. George negotiated master tower land lease agreements and MSA’s with four Tier 1 wireless carriers and three regional wireless carriers. During his seven years with Progress Telecom, George also held senior executive positions within the Sales department. Before joining Progress Telecom, George’s 25 year history with Florida Power Corporation gave him diverse experience in Business Development, Finance and Real Estate. George earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of South Florida.
John Verghese has over 18 years experience focusing on engineering and design of networks in the telecommunication industry. Before joining Tower Cloud, John held various positions with Progress Telecom in network planning, engineering and sales engineering. He was responsible for technology selection, vendor management and oversaw the design and engineering of Progress Telecom’s metro and long haul fiber optic network that spanned nine states from New York City to Miami and served all major Latin American markets. Through his role leading sales engineering, John was closely engaged with customers and developed many creative, leading-edge solutions to facilitate and drive sales. John also has proven experience in M&A network integration following Progress Telecom’s acquisition of EPIK and the merger of Progress Telecom with Caronet. John received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University and his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Patricia Morrison has over 30 years experience in financial administration. Prior to joining the company, Tricia served as Vice President of Finance for Progress Telecom, responsible for all financial functions of the business including financial reporting, long range planning, budgeting, cash management, procurement, taxation and regulatory compliance. Tricia led a number of successful business initiatives, including a multi-million dollar renegotiation of property taxes, and led the financial integration when Progress Telecom’s broadband transport business was acquired by Level 3. Tricia’s experience includes an 18 year career with Florida Progress, a $10 billion dollar diversified electric utility acquired by Progress Energy in 2000. Tricia has several years experience in public accounting firms that provided a range of financial services to small and medium-sized businesses. She is a CPA and Certified Internal Auditor. Tricia earned a Bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama and an MBA from Florida Institute of Technology.
Melissa Buda has over 13 years of legal experience in real estate, telecommunications, debt financing and M&A. Previously, she was the Assistant General Counsel at Global Signal, a tower company serving the wireless industry, before its merger with Crown Castle in January 2007. While at Global Signal, Melissa worked on the acquisition, development, construction, leasing, financing and securitizing of over 11,000 towers. Prior to joining Global Signal, Melissa spent several years with law practices providing legal counsel to large retailers and developers on real estate and finance issues, including Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. Melissa obtained her JD from New York Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts. Melissa is admitted to The Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Supreme Court of the U.S.
