Tench Coxe
Managing Director of Sutter Hills Ventures

Tench Coxe focuses his investments in telecommunications hardware, application software, semiconductors, and payment infrastructure. Tench joined Sutter Hill Ventures in 1987 following his tenure with Digital Communications Associates in Atlanta, where he managed T1 products and directed internal MIS and marketing. Previously, he worked with Lehman Brothers in New York City, where he was a corporate financial analyst specializing in mergers and acquisitions as well as debt and equity financing. Tench graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in economics. He earned an MBA from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business.



David Grain
Founder, President and CEO of Grain Communications Group, Inc

Prior to forming GCGI, David Grain served as President of Global Signal during its emergence from bankruptcy through its operational turnaround. Under his leadership, Global Signal grew its portfolio from approximately 2,000 towers to over 11,000 communication sites in North America through numerous acquisitions, including the $1.2 billion agreement with the Sprint Corporation for 6,600 towers. In January 2007, Global Signal was acquired by Crown Castle for $5.7 billion. David is also a member of BENS (Business Executive for National Security). Prior to joining Global Signal, he served as Senior Vice President of AT&T Broadband's New England Region, the third-largest cable cluster in the United States, with revenues of over $1.5 billion, serving over 2 million cable subscribers and 5,000 employees. David also spent more than a decade in the financial services industry, most recently at Morgan Stanley in New York where he focused primarily on telecommunications, media and technology companies. David earned a degree in English from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.



Scott Irwin
General Partner of El Dorado Ventures

Scott Irwin joined El Dorado Ventures in 2000 and became a General Partner in 2005. He focuses on software and infrastructure investments. Prior to El Dorado, Scott held software engineering and product management positions with Accenture, where he developed and managed enterprise software products targeting the energy industry. His early career experience was with the communications systems division of Rockwell International, later acquired by Alcatel. Scott received a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.



Joe Stockwell
Chief Operating Officer of Odyssey Telecorp

Joe Stockwell joined Odyssey in 2002 and led the structuring and negotiations to acquire Epik Communications in December 2002 and the merger with Progress Telecom in December 2003. Following the Epik acquisition, Joe served as interim CEO and led the turn-around of Epik’s operations by significantly reducing the cost structure while maintaining revenue during the worst period of the telecom industry meltdown. Prior to joining Odyssey, Joe served as CEO of the reorganized Exodus Communications (EXDS) upon the closing of the sale of the majority of Exodus' assets to Cable & Wireless in January 2002. Joe led the execution of that sale transaction and subsequently as CEO managed more than $500mm in assets, guiding his team in identifying strategic buyers for various parts of the company's hosting operations in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to his appointment as CEO, Joe served as Exodus' Senior Vice President for Corporate Development, a group he established when he joined the company in 1998. While overseeing corporate development, Joe completed nine acquisitions with a total value exceeding $7 billion. Before joining Exodus, Joe was vice president of business development at Secure Computing and senior director of corporate development at Apple Computer.
